Copper and stainless steel bottles, including the plain hammered copper ones used for storing water overnight.
Available in the United States. No customs at your door.
Copper bottles are the part of this category with a genuine reason to import, and it is worth being straight about what is and is not established. The ayurvedic practice of storing water in copper overnight, tamra jal, is old and widespread. There is reasonable published work showing that copper vessels reduce bacterial contamination in water over hours, which is a real and useful property. Claims beyond that, about digestion, weight or ageing, are not supported and we will not repeat them.
The practical rules are more important than the theory. Do not put anything acidic in a copper bottle: no lemon water, no juice, no vinegar. Acid dissolves copper into the drink and copper is toxic in quantity. Plain water only, and not all day every day. Clean it with lemon and salt on the outside, rinse the inside with water, and do not put it in a dishwasher, which strips the interior.
If you want a bottle for the gym or for a hot car, buy stainless. Copper is for a jug or a bottle that sits on a counter overnight, and it dents easily.
