Indian instruments are still largely made by hand in workshops that have been at it for generations, mostly around Kolkata, Delhi and Miraj. That is why two tablas of the same specification are never quite identical, and why a good one is worth waiting for. If you are buying your first instrument rather than replacing one, the listing description and the maker's name will tell you more than the price will.

These are the most fragile things we send, so they are packed accordingly. Even so, please open the parcel and check the instrument on the day it arrives. If anything has moved in transit we want photographs while the packaging is still there to see.

Questions people ask

Will the instrument arrive tuned?

No, and no instrument survives a long flight in tune. Skins, strings and reeds all react to a change in humidity and temperature. Expect to tune it on arrival and to let it settle for a few days in its new climate.

What happens if it is damaged in transit?

Photograph it along with the packaging and email [email protected] within seven days, and we will arrange a full refund or a replacement. Please keep the box until the claim is settled.

Will I be asked to pay customs or duties when it arrives?

No. Shipping and duties are both settled at checkout, so the total you see there is the total you pay. Nothing is collected at your door.

Which countries do you ship to?

We ship from India to the United States, Canada, the United Arab Emirates and Australia. Your shipping options and the final total are shown at checkout once you enter your address.

What if something arrives damaged?

Send us photographs at [email protected] within seven days of delivery and we will make it right with a full refund or a free replacement, whichever you prefer. You do not need to ship the item back.
