As your wool gradually firms up, you will need to continue changing to a finer/smaller sized needle. 2--Your set will include: 6 x 36 Gauge Green, Gold: Good starter needle for outlines, shaping and joining. Felts very quickly to speed up early stages of felting. 6 x 38 Gauge Green, Purple: Good for starting, firming up and shaping. A good all round needle. 6 x 40 Gauge Yellow,Red: Good all round, and during mid stages. For adding detail and for finishing. 3--Color coded The color coded material will permanently stay with your needles. The color will not peel off throughout the time of using the needles. The color coded needles can fit into wooden felting handle and multi-needle tool. 4--How do felting needles work? Each needle has a number of barbs that catch the fiber as it is pushed through the project. This causes the fibers to become entangled to make a solid felt. The greater the number of barbs, the faster the project will felt. 5--PLEASE NOTE: Felting needles are incredibly sharp and are not recommended.
