"Prince Peter Kropotkin (1842–1921), one of the few members of the Russian aristocracy who join the revolution, gave up his title at the age of 12. He later rose to prominence as an anarchy theorist. The renowned geographer and social philosopher spent the next 42 years of his life in exile, mostly in England, after being forced to leave his own country in the 1870s to avoid being arrested for his revolutionary actions against the czarist government. Kropotkin published several pamphlets about the moral and practical facets of the anarchist movement at this time. When he was given permission to return to Russia in 1917, he kept writing while vehemently opposing the Bolsheviks and Marxist socialism.
