Up until the game turned out to be human and completely dead, the Wimsey family's getaway at rustic old Riddlesdale Lodge was full with country delights and the excitement of the hunt. He was Lord Peter's upcoming brother-in-law and was lying amid the chrysanthemums while donning slippers and a dinner jacket. If Wimsey's brother's alleged murder wasn't enough to confound the unflappable Lord Wimsey, perhaps a few twists of fate would be: a cryptic midnight letter mysteriously disappearing from Egypt; a mourning fiancee carrying a suitcase; and a bullet intended for one very special Wimsey.
