A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court is a classic satirical novel from one of the great writers, Mark Twain, which was first published in 1889. It is the tale of a commonsensical Yankee who is carried back in time to Britain in the Dark Ages, and it celebrates homespun ingenuity and democratic values as against the superstitious ineptitude of a feudal monarchy. It is the story of Hank Morgan who works as a mechanic at a gun factory and is taken back in time to the year 528. He is placed as an exhibit in King Arthur’s court and then condemned to death. But before he is executed, there are twists and turns that unfold in the story that makes this novel enthralling. An excellent novel for Mark Twain fans!
