Material:Wooden The Wu Lou or the bottle gourd or the “calabash” is a powerful traditional symbol of longevity, good health, prosperity and an abundance of blessings. The shape of a Wu Lou is believed to be a representation of Heaven and Earth united in miniature. Displaying a Wu Lou in and around the home is a good thing to have to enhance one’s Feng Shui. Many deities like Sau Sing Kung from the Fuk Luk Sau and Li T’ieh Kuai from the 8 Immortals, and sometimes the Laughing Buddha carry this wonderful item with them. The authentic Wu Lou is made of the gourd fruit plucked from trees, the flesh inside carefully removed and then dried.The Wu Lou is also believed to contain the elixir of health, vitality and immortality. The Wu Lou (Calabash) in its original form is a fruit and when dried was traditionally used to store medicine or water which is is how it got its name “giver of life”. The shape of the Calabash was replicated into brass (metal weakens earth) by Feng Shui masters many years ago in order to absorb the negative energy of the 2 & 5 bad luck stars. We recently introduced a Wu Lou that we had adapted so that the top can be screwed off, allowing the inside to be filled with 8 carefully chosen assorted.
