Vermicomposting : Understanding The Process:- Vermicomposting is a type of Composting in which certain species of Earthworms are used to enhance the process of Organic Waste Conversion and produce a better end-product. It is a Mesophilic process utilizing Microorganisms and Earthworms. Earthworms feeds on the Organic Waste Materials and passes it through their Digestive System and gives out in a granular form (cocoons) which is known as Vermicompost. Simply speaking, Vermicompost is Earthworm Excrement, called Castings, which can improve Biological, Chemical, and Physical Properties of the soil. The Chemical Secretions in the Earthworms Digestive tract help break down Soil and Organic matter, so the castings contain more Nutrients mainly Nitrogen that are immediately available to Plants. It uses the Earthworms to convert Biodegradable/Vegetable waste to a 100% Natural Plant Fertilizer.

• Healthier Plants :- As the compost works on the plants and they become healthier the need for pesticides is reduced. The reduction in pesticides helps the area to recover faster and can start an improvement cycle that will run on. This compares with the typical cycle when chemical fertilizers are used. The chemical fertilizers might increase plant yields but they do nothing for plant health.
