The Nitrate Test Strip is used to detect nitrate in solution at 10, 25, 50, 100, 250, & 500ppm. Nitrate test strips are often used to test fertilizers in agricultural areas. This strip is very sensitive to light and moisture, so make sure that the vial is well sealed. Be sure to re-close the bottle immediately after opening to prevent the moisture from ruining them. Excessive amounts of nitrate or nitrite in water can cause disease and can lead to spontaneous abortion in cows. Some wells contain a high content of nitrate. Dip the test pad into the solution tested for 2-3 seconds. Remove the strip and shake off excess liquid. Compare with the color chart after 1 minute.
