A synonym is a word with the same or nearly the same meaning. Antonyms are words that have the opposite or nearly the opposite meaning. They may differ in degree. This book contains 100 short exercises, exposing the student to over 2000 words. Most pages have no more than ten questions. As English generally contains many words with the same meaning, having an understanding and developing knowledge of both synonyms and antonyms is vital for language proficiency and the ability to understand a wide range of English texts.
