The Rithmatist is a fictional young adult novel. The story revolves around a boy named Joel, who wishes to learn Rithamatics, which is a magic with which one can bring to life chalk drawings called Chalkings. Joel's father was the chalk maker at the Armedius Academy, one of the few schools in the United Isles of America that taught Rithmatics. Joel lived with his mother at the academy.The book is about the mysterious disappearance of students of the Academy. in order to find out what is behind this, Principal York asks Professor Fitch to investigate. The Principal asks Joel to help Professor Fitch in getting to the bottom of this mystery. Joel is also joined by his friend Melody, who is a Rithmatist taking corrective classes with the professor because she isn't good with the magic. The investigation takes them through a series of adventurous events and shocking discoveries.The Rithmatist is written by Brandon Sanderson and was published by Tor Teen in 2014. This is the reprint edition. It is available in paperback and is the import edition.
