"Shakespeare's play The Taming of the Shrew is about love and marriage. The reason Lucentio marries Bianca is that he has an unrealistic love for a seemingly perfect woman. The courtship of Katherine by Petruchio, however, is devoid of romanticism. Given that Katherine must get married before her sister per her father's will, Petruchio uses money from Bianca's suitors to win her over. He also works with her father to set up the dowry. When Katherine no longer wants to get married, Petruchio is prepared to do so. The title character's shrew, Katherine, surely behaves very differently now. However, has she and Petruchio grown to love one another? Or is the union founded on fear and deceit?"
