And is payment handled by a recognised processor, so you keep your card issuer's chargeback protection? A seller who fails the first check rarely passes the others.

Two warning signs are worth treating as decisive. Any request to pay outside the website, by bank transfer, UPI or a messaging app, removes every protection you have and is the single most common way people lose money. And a returns policy that promises easy free returns from another continent is usually untrue, because return freight often exceeds the item's value. A seller being straight with you about that limit is a better sign than one promising the impossible.
