This is the fourth novel of Nirala. Suryakant Tripathi Nirala was one of the greatest modern Hindi writers and pioneer of Chhayavaad in Hindi literature. He was a revolutionary writer and through his work he severely criticized the orthodox Indian Society of preindependence. In Nirupma his liberal ideas become distinctly visible. Nirupama, the central character has been raised in a traditional family. Krishnakumar on the other hand is a foreign educated man who inspite of his degree could not get a job and starts polishing boots. When Nirupama falls in love with Krishnakumar, her rebellious character comes to the surface which also depicts the rebellious character of Nirala. It beautifully captures the culture and caste identity prevailing in our society and a man's search for freedom. Written in 1935, no one can know how relevant it is in our modern society without reading it.
